Adrianne Palicki Looks Back at Starring in the Failed WONDER WOMAN Pilot; Will Return to Play Lady Jaye in G.I. JOE 3

A couple years ago, David E. Kelley (The Practice) attempted to launch a Wonder Woman series for NBC, and what we saw looked unimpressive to say the least, although two people who saw the pilot were mixed on the result.  All I can say is that the costume looked laughably cheap (NBC changed it after the negative reaction from fans), and it didn’t bode well for the series. However, Adrianne Palicki wasn’t a terrible choice for the role at least in terms of her physique and ability to do stunts.  In a recent interview, Palicki talked about the chance to play the famous superhero, and why she’s a little grateful the show didn’t get picked up.

adrianne-palicki-wonder-woman-costumePalicki tells IGN was “devastated” when NBC decided to pass on Wonder Woman, but she also admits that “it was probably a blessing. It would’ve been a really hard thing to shoot.”  However, she also talked about her excitement at the prospect of playing the character:

And I got to wear the costume — I should say, I got paid to wear the costume! So not many people get to say that. [laughs] I’m really blessed to have gotten to do that and maybe someday down the line I’ll get to play that character or another awesome icon again.”

Warner Bros. hasn’t forgotten Wonder Woman, but for now she’ll have to share the screen with other superheroes in the untitled Batman/Superman movie.  This time, Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) will be playing the Amazonian warrior princess.

Even though Palicki didn’t get Wonder Woman, her physical stature (she’s 5′ 11″) and ability to do stunt work means she gets offered a lot of action movies, which she says is more than fine:

“I think it’s hard to find females who can do the action stuff and I think that when people see somebody… there are only like three or four [actresses] who are in all that stuff, because it’s like once people see that they can do it, they put them in a lot of things,” she says. “So yes, I definitely get a lot of scripts for action films. Which is awesome, because I love doing it. I love doing my own stunts. I’m one of those crazy people, but it’s a fine line because you don’t want to get pigeonholed. That’s why I try to do comedies or even a little independent film, just to stay above board. To keep it real, and to keep me from getting injured once in a while! I’m 30 and I feel like I’m 57 years old!”

As for upcoming action roles, Palicki says she’ll reprise her role as Lady Jaye for G.I. Joe 3, although there are currently no plot details on the sequel, an attached director, or a release date.
