Adult Swim Orders 8 Pilots Including an Animated HAROLD & KUMAR Series and a New Series from COMMUNITY’s Dan Harmon

     May 15, 2012

The future of Adult Swim, Cartoon Network’s weird older brother, just got a little bit clearer, as the cable network has announced a bevy of new pilots that will compete for a schedule spot in 2012-2013. The most prominent of the bunch are an untitled animated continuation of the pot-fueled adventures of Harold & Kumar and Rick & Morty, a comedy from Community creator, Dan Harmon. The former is being scripted by franchise writers (and directors of Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay) Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg and will see stars John Cho and Kal Penn giving voice to animated versions of themselves. Rick & Morty, meanwhile, follows the adventures of an inventor and his dimwitted grandson. Hit the jump for more.
Per The Live Feed, the remaining pilot orders consist of:

  • community-dan-harmon-adult-swim-rick-and-mortyCoffin Dodgers: A 30-minute comedy about a rowdy retirement home from Drawn Together masterminds Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser.
  • King Star King: A 15-minute animated comedy that follows a “modern-day He-man who’s half-warrior, half-idiot” from Futurama writer Eric Kaplan.
  • Green Bench: The American Day Dream: A 30-minute live-actioner that focuses on a group of pals goofing off in an office building they bought to start a business.
  • Freestyle Love Supreme: A 30-minute live-actioner about rapping IT guys.
  • Rolling with Dad: A 30-minute animation about a brainy disabled man suffering through a witless family, produced by literary revisionist extraordinaire Seth-Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and Tim Burton.
  • Colonel Wallace: A 15-minute animated effort about a seemingly Colonel Sanders-based character from King of the Hill scribe Greg Cohen.
