‘Alien: Covenant’: New Set Video Puts Katherine Waterson in Hypersleep

     August 4, 2016

Coming off the success of The Martian, Ridley Scott has been hard at work on his Prometheus follow-up, Alien: Covenant, for the last few months. While filming wrapped late last month, the film doesn’t arrive in theaters for another year — exactly 365 days, to be exact — and 20th Century Fox is marking the reverse-anniversary with a new behind-the-scenes look at Katherine Waterson‘s Daniels.

The film, which is described as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy, will help connect the dots between the somewhat convoluted Prometheus and Scott’s 1979 horror/sci-fi classic Alien. The film picks up some time after the events of Prometheus, when a new team of space travelers happens upon what they think is an uncharted paradise inhabited by Michael Fassbender‘s David. While early reports stated that the Prometheus expedition’s other survivor, Noomi Rapace, wouldn’t return for the follow-up, reports from the set have since confirmed that Rapace will indeed have a role in the sequel-prequel, we just don’t know the extent of that role.

Covenant also stars Billy Crudup, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo,Jussie Smollet, Amy Seimetz, and Danny McBride and it set to arrive in theaters August 4, 2017. Check out the new behind-the-scenes snippet below.

Here’s the synopsis for Alien: Covenant:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
