The first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man has gone online.  I’m torn between “What was the point?” and “Sigh.  This is what ‘gritty’ Spider-Man looks like.”  First off: daddy-issues.  How original.  Second, there’s not a sense of joy in any of this trailer.  I re-watched the trailer for Sam Raimi’s first film and while there’s certainly some melodrama and an emphasis on action, you also see that there’s a fun movie in there.  I’m not getting that from this trailer.  However, I am getting that director Marc Webb has probably played Mirror’s Edge.

Hit the jump to check out the The Amazing Spider-Man trailer.  Hopefully what I see at Comic-Con on Friday will be more encouraging.  The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, and Rhys Ifans.  The Amazing Spider-Man opens in 3D on July 3, 2012.

And if you missed it, we just posted the first official poster for The Amazing Spider-Man.
