ASSASSIN’S CREED and Next BOURNE Movie May Add EX MACHINA’s Alicia Vikander

     May 23, 2015

In case you haven’t noticed, Alicia Vikander is everywhere right now. Seventh Son and Ex Machina already hit theaters this year, she’s still got Testament of Youth, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and The Danish Girl on the way, and she’s busy lining up new projects as well. Vikander recently became part of one of the hottest packages at Cannes, but a couple of new opportunities just popped up that might force her to drop out of it.

Deadline is reporting that she’s currently in talks to star in Assassin’s Creed and the new Bourne movie, projects that would certainly conflict with James Ponsoldt’s book-to-film adaptation of The Circle starring Tom Hanks. Vikander’s involvement was only announced a few weeks back, but Deadline suggests that she will exit that project. In fact, the outlet has heard that IM Global head Stuart Ford already made an offer to Emma Watson to replace her.

The “Untitled Next Bourne Chapter” is due in theaters on July 29, 2016. Both Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass are coming back, and working on the script with Christopher Rouse who edited The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. No word on who Vikander will play in the film and the same goes for Assassin’s Creed as well.

We know that New Regency and Ubisoft have Michael Fassbender locked to star, likely as the character at the center of the video games – a man who’s kidnapped by a shadowy mega-corporation and forced to use a device that allows him to access his “ancestral memories.” It was also recently announced that Marion Cotillard is on board as well. Assassin’s Creed is heading towards a December 21, 2016 release and is expected to begin filming in the early fall so if Vikander does sign on for both film, she’ll definitely have her hands full for a while.
