BARBARELLA Series Could Be Set Up at Amazon Studios

     January 20, 2014

Some recent Barbarella news suggests the series may be moving forward at Amazon Studios.  Skyfall writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade penned the pilot script, which will now be taken in by the digital production company with an eye to secure a showrunner in anticipation of a pilot pickup.  Originally created by Jean-Claude Forest in a graphic novel which was adapted for the 1968 sci-fi movie staring Jane Fonda, Barbarella is a space adventurer that often engages in amorous encounters with various aliens across the galaxy.  Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) is on board to executive produce and was previously attached to direct.  The series reboot has been in the works for some years, so this news gives the project a bit of momentum.  (Via Deadline)
