You may have seen some purchased/leaked/stolen images of costume tests for stars of the current Star Wars film floating around the Internet, but we’ve got some vintage shots of a fan-favorite character suiting up behind the scenes of his iconic role. First revealed on the big screen in the 1980 film Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, bounty hunter Boba Fett found himself going from fringe character to cult icon within a short span of time. The man behind the mask in the original films was English actor Jeremy Bulloch, who also nabbed a role in the prequel film Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith as Captain Colton, a role in which you can actually see his face.
Sure to delight Star Wars fans and Boba Fett cosplayers alike, we now have a collection of over 30 images from the 1979 costume test. Sure, the prototype armor may have been seen a bit earlier during the 1978 San Anselmo Country Fair parade and on the small screen in the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special later that year, which certainly helped to heighten audience’s awareness of the character, but these costume shots look to be as close to the final movie version as we’ve seen.
