Bradley Cooper to Star in Crime Thriller AMERICAN BLOOD for Warner Bros.

Bradley Cooper is apparently going for the trifecta for starring in films whose titles begin with the word “American.”  He’s nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for American Hustle, his next film is the real-life drama American Sniper, and now he’s attached to star in the crime thriller American BloodTHR reports that Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to the Ben Sanders novel of the same name, which revolves around a NYPD officer-turned-mob-informant who gets involved with a dangerous investigation concerning a missing woman while living in witness protection in New Mexico.  Cooper is attached to star in the potentially franchise-igniting pic with Andrew Sodroski (Holland, Michigan) penning the screenplay.  A director has not yet been as it’s still early days on the project; the book doesn’t even hit shelves until Fall 2015.

bradley-cooper-american-bloodCooper is next set to shoot American Sniper, the true story of a Texan Navy SEAL who recorded the highest number of sniper kills for an American before succumbing to friendly fire at a shooting range in Texas.  Cooper is also producing the project and initially had set Steven Spielberg to direct, but the filmmaker subsequently backed outClint Eastwood is now onboard to take the helm with production poised to get underway in the next few months.  Additionally, the actor is doing voice work for the angry character of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which opens this August.

Cooper also has two other films in the can awaiting release.  He actually completed photography on director Susanne Bier’s Serena a while ago opposite Jennifer Lawrence, and the pic is expected to finally be unveiled later this year.  Most recently, Cooper wrapped a starring role in writer/director Cameron Crowe’s new untitled film opposite Emma Stone.  That pic will hit theaters on Christmas Day of this year.
