The Cannes Film Festival isn’t only about the competition and the famous red carpet steps. It’s also the biggest film market in the world, a labyrinth where production companies and studios from all over the world come to sell their films. And one of the best ways to show what they have on offer is, of course, the movie poster.
As I walked through the film market, located on the underground level of the Palais des Festivals, I noticed how prolific Asian cinema is. Thailand and Japan have some of the biggest stands and these posters are only “a few” of the films they have on offer – they make Bollywood look small(ish) by comparison. Taiwan has also increased its presence at the market.
Check out a large collection of the posters I saw on display below. Which ones would you want to see?
