Watch: Cannes Press Conferences for ‘The BFG,’ ‘Loving,’ ‘The Nice Guys,’ and More

     May 16, 2016

A lot has been going on overseas at the Cannes Film Festival in France, including the world premieres of Jeff Nichols’ interracial marriage drama Loving and Steven Spielberg’s The BFG, Adam Driver’s latest performance in Paterson, and Oscar winner Andrea Arnold’s critical darling American Honey. And now, you can see the fest through the eyes of the press as video footage of the major press conferences are available to watch online.

Nichols was recently joined by his stars Joel Edgerton (The Gift) and Ruth Negga (AMC’s Preacher), who play Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple who were sentenced to prison for getting married in 1958 Virginia. Their story is at the center of Loving, and the trio gathered to discuss the film with the media:

Driver may be a big movie star now, thanks to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but he’s also had a thriving career in smaller and indie films. His latest effort is Paterson, named for the central character, a bus driver with a simple life of love and poetry in New Jersey. It also marks the next project from director Jim Jarmush, who attended Cannes with Driver and Golshifte Farahani.

One of the bigger standouts from the festival, based on critical reception alone, is American Honey. Shia LaBeouf injured himself while filming, but he danced on the red carpet to “Choices (Yup)” along with the filmmaker and his fellow cast mates. The film features a cast of mostly newcomers playing a mischievous band of teens hustling across the country while partying and selling magazine subscriptions.

Other films screening at Cannes included From the Land of the Moon starring Marion Cotillard, Sony Pictures Classics’ latest get Toni Erdmann, the Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling film The Nice Guys, and Woody Allen’s Cafe Society. See the press conferences below.

The festival will continue until May 22, so keep tabs for more premiers, including the Sean Penn-directed, Charlize Theron-led The Last Face.
