‘Captain America: Civil War’ Concept Art Teases the Big Superhero Brawl

     December 18, 2015

With 2015 drawing to a close, Marvel is looking full steam ahead toward their next theatrical release, Captain America: Civil War, which pits Iron Man and Captain America against each other in a war of ideologies; a rift that leaves the Avengers divided. The first trailer confirmed the suspected teams: Iron Man’s got Black Widow, Vision, Black Panther, and War Machine, while Cap’s backed by Ant-Man, Scarlett Witch, Falcon, Hawkeye and Winter Soldier. I assume they’re fighting with the gloves on since Vision could probably take them all out with a wink and a nod.

Earlier this month, we learned some details about who would square off in the big “splash page” fight scene that finds the Avengers face-punching the heck out of each other. Now, thanks to the latest issue of Total Film (via CBM), we’ve got a look at the big inter-Avenger battle in the form of some new concept art (one has little info blurbs, and one is just the clean image). I love how Hawkeye is just sort of half-cocked aimlessly staring into the distance. That feels about right after his “the city is flying” speech in Ultron. Check out the new art below.

Captain America: Civil War arrives in theaters May 6, 2016. Here’s the recently updated synopsis:

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
