In honor of today’s Chappie DVD and Blu-ray release, we got the opportunity to share two exclusive clips from the special features menu. In case you need a refresher, Neill Blomkamp‘s third feature focuses on a police droid who becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel. He’s got a noble “maker” dedicated to raising him right, but when Chappie falls into the hands of a group of thugs, he picks up a few bad habits. Those thugs are played by the member of the South African rap group Die Antwoord, Ninja and Yolandi Visser. They’ve got a unique style to say the least and this first clip explores how Blomkamp incorporated that into the film. The second video centers on Chappie, and specifically the need to find the human, emotional moments that define him.
You can check out both of our Chappie clips below, but one warning – there is a major plot spoiler at the end of the second video! The Chappie DVD and Blu-ray are available now. The film also stars Sharlto Copley, Dev Patel, Hugh Jackman and Sigourney Weaver.
Here’s the official synopsis for Chappie:
In the near future, crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanized police force. But now, the people are fighting back. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself.
