Jennifer Garner in Talks for DRAFT DAY, Chloë Grace Moretz in Negotiations for DARK PLACES

Here are today’s latest casting announcements:

  • Jennifer Garner (Alias) is in negotiations to join Kevin Costner in Draft Day, a sports dramedy directed by Ivan Reitman.
  • Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) is in talks to star opposite Charlize Theron in Dark Places, an adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel from writer/director Gilles Paquet-Brenner.

jennifer_garnerFirst up from Variety comes word that Garner is in negotiations to star as Costner’s character’s secretary in Draft Day.  Summit will distribute the sports picture that centers on Buffalo Bills General Manager Sonny Weaver (Costner), who attempts to salvage his team by trading for the number one pick in the draft.  However, he must choose decide whether he’s willing to make personal and professional sacrifices in order to achieve success.  It’s been called the football version of Moneyball Garner will next be seen in Dallas Buyers Club with Matthew McConaughey.

From Deadline comes the report that Moretz is in talks to join Dark Places, a dark drama that centers on a woman who survived the brutal murder of her family when she was seven.  Twenty-five years after testifying against her brother as the murderer, a group obsessed with investigating notorious crimes draws her out for more information.  Moretz will play the character named Diondra.  The 16-year-old actress will next be seen in Jeff Wadlow’s Kick-Ass 2 reprising her role as Hit-Girl, followed by Kimberly Peirce’s Carrie remake later this fall.  Moretz was also recently reported as being in negotiations to star in Lynne Shelton’s Laggies.
