Hit the jump for much more on the aforementioned casting.

chris-pine-the-finest-hoursTHR reports that Chris Pine is in talks to topline the drama The Finest Hours for Disney, with Craig Gillespie in negotiations to take the helm.  Based on a true story, the film recounts the 1952 Coast Guard rescue mission to recover 84 men trapped in a deadly nor’easter blizzard. Two WWII oil tankers were ripped in half, leaving four halves of ship floating aimlessly through the storm carrying the disaster’s only survivors. The brave Coast Guard men set out on a suicide rescue mission, some on old wooden motorized lifeboats, in order to recover the lost seamen.

Robert Schwentke (Red) had previously been onboard as director, but he fell off the project when he was offered the chance to direct the Divergent sequel Insurgent.  Gillespie just directed the sports drama Million Dollar Arm for Disney, so he already has a rapport with the studio.

Additionally, Deadline reports that 20th Century Fox has acquired a pitch for an action film called Men Who Kill, which will be developed as a starring vehicle for Michael B. Jordan.  The pic is said to be in the tone of an international Bad Boys and marks the first foray into action for Jordan.  The actor has a relationship with Fox having starred in Chronicle and recently signing on to play Johnny Storm in The Fantastic Four.

Finally, 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow director Roland Emmerich’s next project has added a castmember in Caleb Landry Jones.  Deadline reports that Jones is in talks to join the cast of Stonewall, which revolves around the 1969 police raid at the Stonewall Hotel in Greenwich Village, a famous gathering place for gays and transgenders.  The event ignited the fight against homosexual oppression.  We recently reported that War Horse star Jeremy Irvine has been set in the lead role, and Jones will play an eccentric gay street hustler who befriends Irvine’s character and later takes part in the riots.
