First up from The Wrap is news that Gere is joining Old Fires.  Scripted by Heather McGowan (Tadpole), the film “follows a world-renowned architect (Gere) who emerges from a coma in need of both physical and mental rehabilitation. With the help of his snarky female physical therapist, he tries to repair his damaged relationship with his children and win back his wife’s love.”  Currently, there’s no start date in place and director Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) is no longer attached.

Deadline reports that Stevens will star in Night at the Museum 3.  The third film in the series is set in London and will feature a pivotal role for Stevens’ character, Lancelot.  Ben Stiller is expected to reprise the lead role of museum security guard Larry Daley, with Robin Williams in talks to return as Theodore Roosevelt.  Production is scheduled to begin early next year.

Variety reports that Stevens has also landed a role in The Cobbler.  Written and directed by McCarthy, the film’s plot details are being kept quiet for the moment.  Stevens will film this before moving to Night at the Museum 3.  He recently wrapped production on the Adam Wingard’s The Guest and has the Liam Neeson-starrer A Walk Among the Tombstones waiting for a release date.
