DARK CITY Fans Rejoice

     April 29, 2008

For many years, fans of “Dark City” have been waiting. That’s because rumor’s of a director’s cut have been written about for a long time, with many wondering if they’d ever get to see what Alex had originally intended to release.

But thanks to the magic of home video, we’re finally getting the Alex approved version and it’s about 15 minutes longer with some changes to the restof the film. And for those who hate the opening narration (which gives a lot away), I’m sure he’s taken it out as Alex has said it was studio imposed. If you’d like to read more about the behind the scenes stuff and the film go here.

If you haven’t seen the film yet, I definitely recommend waiting till the end of July to watch it. Then version available now is still great, but you’re so close to the new version you’re better off waiting.

With Comic-Con happening the week before the release and this film perfectly suited for the convention, it wouldn’t surprise me if they premiere it down there. So WB, if you’re listening…try and make it happen. I’m sure the crowd would love to check it out.

Anyway, here’s the official synopsis and box art. While WB has said it hits Blu-Ray day and date, I don’t yet have the cover art.

Dark City Director’s Cut Synopsis:

The critically-acclaimed triumph from visionary director Alex Proyas (I, Robot, The Crow) is back with a brand new directors cut featuring enhanced picture and sound, never-before-seen footage and three commentary tracks that take you deeper than ever before into the world of one of sci-fis most exciting and revered tales. When John Murdoch (Rufus Sewell) wakes with no memory at the scene of a grisly murder, he soon finds himself hunted by the police, a woman claiming to be his wife and a mysterious group of pale men who seem to control everything and everyone in the city.

Starring Rufus Sewell (The Illusionist), Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind), William Hurt (A History of Violence) and Kiefer Sutherland (TVs 24).
