DEEPSEA CHALLENGE 3D Trailer: James Cameron Dives to the Deepest Point on the Planet

     July 1, 2014

While we still have a few years to wait until Avatar 2, those needing an immediate James Cameron fix will be appeased next month.  Naitonal Geographic has released the first Deepsea Challenge 3D trailer for directors John Bruno, Andrew Wight, and Ray Quint’s documentary about Cameron’s expedition to the Mariana Trench, the deepest point on the planet.  This trailer has a touch of narcissism to it, but that’s kind of par for the course.  The beginning of the trailer almost plays like parody and kept reminding me of the South Park gag.  Nevertheless, Cameron’s dive is a genuinely exciting scientific expedition, and it should be fun to follow the filmmaker along on his journey through the depths of the ocean—in 3D no less!
