Legendary Pictures announced yesterday that Goosebumps director Rob Letterman has been tapped to direct the live-action Pokemon movie, Detective Pikachu. The studio closed a deal earlier this year to acquire the film rights to the property that quickly went into development on a new movie while the Pokemon Go craze was at its peak. Captain Marvel writer Nicole Perlman and Gravity Falls’ Alex Hirsch are writing the script with a release date yet to be determined.

The character of Alpha 5 has always had an unusual design that seemed to work inside the universe created in the original Power Rangers tv series. And now, it looks as though Lionsgate is going for something a little different for their upcoming movie adaptation. Yesterday saw the release of some concept art of Alpha 5’s new redesign courtesy of IGN. We’ll see the new look in action when Power Rangers hits theatres in March 24, 2017.

In honor of Ridley Scott’s 79th birthday yesterday, 20th Century Fox released a behind the scenes image from the set of Alien: Covenant of what appears to be the original Space Jockey from the first movie Alien. This also seems to tease a direct connection between Alien and its second prequel Covenant. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on May 19th, 2016.

The duo promised that the standalone film would pay tribute to the cinematic legacy of the Batman character and now, thanks to a twitter, co-director Chris McKay has confirmed that Billy Dee Williams will reprise his role of Harvey Dent from the Tim Burton directed Batman movie. The size of Williams part remains to be seen so we will have to wait until February 10th, 2017 to find out more.

According to a press release, Nicolas Cage will star in the sci-fi film The Humanity Bureau. The movie will place Cage in a near future ravaged by the effects of global warming where a government agency exiles American citizens to a colony called New Eden if they are deemed unproductive to society. Cage’s character, Noah Kross, discovers something shady about their agency’s dealings and sets out to expose them. No release date has been set.
