The first official teaser trailer for Lionsgate’s The Divergent Series: Allegiant is now online. If you’re like me, you haven’t been keeping up with this dystopian YA adaptation movie franchise and are confused at how it distinguishes itself from other dystopian YA adaptation movie franchises. Luckily, this new teaser trailer spends the first half of its runtime treading over the previously released films in order to more or less catch you up with the story.
Allegiant, which was the third and final of Veronica Roth’s book series, is the first part of a two-movie conclusion to Divergent. The final chapter, The Divergent Series: Ascendant, won’t debut until March 24, 2017. Before that last installment, however, Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) will have to survive their first-ever trip outside the wall that encloses Chicago. There, shocking truths await them, revelations that will force them to make difficult choices and sacrifices in the name of saving all of humanity.
Also starring Jeff Daniels, Octavia Spencer, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Daniel Dae Kim and Naomi Watts, The Divergent Series: Allegiant opens March 18, 2016.
