Yesterday, we got a new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s World War II action film Dunkirk. The movie chronicles the real-life rescue of 338,226 soldiers from Dunkirk, France, and judging by the trailer, it looks to be fairly harrowing and intense. However, if you’re eager to see a little bit more of what Nolan has on tap, you have an opportunity to do so based on where you see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
IMAX has released a full list of theaters where they’ll be showing the five-minute prologue for Dunkirk. Over 100 minutes of Dunkirk was reportedly shot with 65mm IMAX cameras, so seeing it in IMAX is the ideal way to get a sense of what Nolan is going for with his latest feature.
Also, I have to say, that when it comes to studios screening bits of footage from their upcoming films, doing it in front of other movies is the best way to go. Recently, other movies have tried to get people to come to the theater solely for footage from an upcoming film, which feels like a gigantic waste of time. You’ll probably spend more time getting to the theater than you will actually watching the footage. At least this way, you’re already going to see Rogue One, so you may as well choose a screening that’s going to show you some Dunkirk footage as well.
Check out a list of theaters that are playing the Dunkirk footage below or click here. The film opens July 21, 2017 and stars Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy, Aneurin Barnard, James D’Arcy, Jack Lowden, Barry Keoghan, Tom Glynn-Carney, and Harry Styles.
Dunkirk opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.
