Ed-Oxenbould-Kerris-Dorsey-Dylan-Minnette-Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad

Opening this weekend is director Miguel Arteta’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.  Based on the classic children’s book of the same name, the film follows 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible day of his young life.  But then, things get even worse and Alexander finds himself watching his upbeat parents (Jennifer Garner and Steve Carell), older brother (Dylan Minnette) and sister (Kerris Dorsey), and even the little baby of the family (Zoey and Elise Vargas) going through a string of events so terrible that they make up the baddest of very bad days.  For more on the film, watch the trailer here.

At the recent Los Angeles press day I landed a video interview with Ed Oxenbould, Kerris Dorsey and Dylan Minnette.  They talked about working with Steve Carell, who ruined the most takes, how much they practiced their facial expressions for the poster, if they watched any specific films prior to filming, future projects, and more.  Hit the jump to watch.

Ed Oxenbould, Kerris Dorsey and Dylan Minnette:

  • How long did they practice to make the faces you see on the poster?
  • Who ruined the most takes?
  • What was it like working with Steve Carell?
  • Were they asked to watch 16 Candles prior to filming?
  • Did they watch any films prior to shooting to help get ready for the role?
  • Future project talk.
