Elijah Wood, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser and Vincent D’Onofrio Join PAWN SHOP CHRONICLES

     June 4, 2012

When last we reported on Running Scared-director Wayne Kramer’s Pawn Shop Chronicles, the picture had attached Paul Walker to star with Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst set to direct.  That’s old news.  What’s current is the casting of Elijah Wood, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser and Vincent D’Onofrio in the dark comedy.  The plot seems pretty much the same, which involves a local pawn shop in a small Southern town that is a link between a man searching for his kidnapped wife, two white-supremacist meth addicts and a down-on-his-luck Elvis impersonator.  Production on the Adam Minarovich screenplay is underway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Hit the jump for more casting news on Pawn Shop Chronicles.

Castingpell-james-pawn-shop-chronicles news for Pawn Shop Chronicles comes via Deadline.  No casting details as to who will be playing which role have been released as of yet.  (Do you think Wood makes a better Elvis or a meth-head?)  The picture is being produced by Jordan Schur of Mimran Schur Pictures, who had the following to say about the project:

“This is a superbly written mind-bender of a story that grabs you from the first line, and doesn’t let go.  We are incredibly fortunate to have found Wayne Kramer to present it, and equally thrilled with the diverse and talented cast assembled.”

In addition to Wood, Dillon, Fraser and D’Onofrio, Pawn Shop Chronicles also stars Pell James (Zodiac), Thomas Jane (The Punisher), Lukas Haas (Inception), Chi McBride (Boston Public), Ashlee Simpson (The Hot Chick), Kevin Rankin (Hulk), DJ Qualls (Road Trip), Michael Cudlitz (The Negotiator) and Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead).
