Salma Hayek Wields Big Guns In New EVERLY Trailer

     January 20, 2015

In Everly, directed by Joe Lynch, Salma Hayek‘s title character must defend herself from deadly waves of assassins sent by her ex, a dangerous mob boss.  (This is what happens when you don’t listen to your friends saying, “I’m not sure he’s a great guy for you, though”).  The film’s synopsis defines Everly as “down-on-her-luck,” which about sums up her never-ending-assassin predicament.  Then again, she does get to work from home — the entire film takes place in one apartment.

Hit the jump for the latest Everly trailer, and why “you can’t keep a good woman down.”  The film also stars Togo Igawa, Masashi Fujimoto, and Hiroyuki Watanabe, and will be released on VOD this Friday and in theaters on February 27th.

There may be think pieces to be written about Hayek’s gam-flashing, gun-wielding filmic persona in Everly, but then again, it doesn’t appear like a movie where one really needs to think at all.  Enjoy the Grindhouse-ness of it all, via RADiUS.

Here’s the official synopsis for Everly:

EVERLY co-stars Togo Igawa (LAST SAMURAI; MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA), Masashi Fujimoto (SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE) and Hiroyuki Watanabe. The Black List script by Yale Hannon is an intense action thriller centered on a down-on-her-luck woman (Hayek) who is forced to fend off waves of assassins sent by her ex, a dangerous mob boss, while trying to save her estranged mother and daughter. The film is set entirely in one apartment, and is based on a concept created by Lynch.
