New FRANKENWEENIE Trailer Is Old Fashioned in the Best Way

     July 12, 2012

A new trailer for director Tim Burton’s stop-motion animated film Frankenweenie was shown to fans at Comic-Con earlier today (you can read our recap of the panel right here), and now Disney has released the clip for the general public to see.  It’s a great throwback to black-and-white monster movies and horror TV shows of yesteryear, and I sincerely hope that this is the tone that permeates throughout the whole movie.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film features the voices of Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, and Martin LandauFrankenweenie opens in 3D on October 5th.

Here’s the synopsis for Frankenweenie:

From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.
