Forget Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton for a second. Forget Republican vs. Democrat.wants you to vote for the GOT Party candidate.
What is the GOT Party? HBO released a promo for the viral campaign stating, “For those who feel left out, for those who don’t see their banner on the ballot, for those who don’t like how the game is played … Vote GOT.” So, yeah, it seems like a promotional strategy to funnel our attention towards the Blu-ray release of Season 6, but it’s also a fun way to do so, nonetheless.
Watch the promo below:
Throughout August, fans can head to the digital polls to vote for the GOT Party candidate, which will be either Jon Snow with his running mate (and our new favorite badass) Lyanna Mormont, Daenerys Targaryen with running mate Tyrion Lannister, Cersei Lannister with running mate Qyburn, or Petyr Baelish with running mate Sansa Stark.
This will also prove to be a fun way of figuring out which of these characters fans want to ultimately sit on the Iron Throne, though there are a few names we’d like to see on that ballot (*cough*Arya*cough).
Dany already has a lot of experience (and names) under her belt, and her campaign profile plays up the “female empowerment,” “rebuilding the dragon population,” and “freedom for the known world” aspects of her political career. For Jon, the Red Woman must have written his campaign blurb because it floats him as “the Lord of Light, R’hllor’s chosen son,” and mentions his resurrection.
As the polls currently stand, Jon is in the lead with 59% of the vote, while Dany has 33%. Cersei is in last place with 2.8%, but it’s not too far off from Petyr at 5.7%. These results are only at the end of the first day since they’ve been open, so it’s really anyone’s game.
We don’t have long before Game of Thrones ends its eight-season run, so it’s time to get serious. Let us know who you voted for and why in the comments.
