Kit Harington Spotted in Belfast, GAME OF THRONES Season 6 Theories Multiply

     July 21, 2015

Usually the speculation during the Game of Thrones off-season is around casting for established book characters. But this year, it’s all about an already established show character: Jon Snow (Kit Harington). Has his watch truly ended? Since showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff don’t have any book material to go off of for Season 6 (since George R. R. Martin’s The Winds of Winter has not yet been published), no one knows what might happen. Of course, that doesn’t stop us from guessing.

One of the main bastions of hope for those who are hoping Jon Snow is not dead (or is “dead” but will be resurrected) is that Kit Harington hasn’t cut off his Jon Snow locks. He told Collider last month that’s just because he “likes the look” and that it doesn’t mean he’s coming back to Game of Thrones. But, you know, hair grows back … yet he wore a wig during the filming of Testament of Youth rather than trim it. (To be fair regarding him liking the look, he does look like he’s about 12 years old when he’s clean-cut).

But in addition to #HairGate2015, there is now, finally, another potential clue: Harington was spotted by a reader from Watchers on the Wall as as arriving back in Belfast (Game of Thrones filming location) with Tom Wlaschiha (Jaqen H’ghar).

He could be filming a funeral scene, a la Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister. But according to WotW, Harington has been traveling to Belfast quite a bit during the show’s pre-production. He’s also refused to take pictures with fans in Belfast. Trying to keep this “dead is dead” ruse alive? Me thinks thou doth protest too much!

Personally, I don’t think it’s a question of “if” Jon Snow will return to Game of Thrones, but when. As we’ve reported in the past, there is plenty of groundwork in the book series that lends credence to the idea that Jon Snow is part of a larger prophesy for Westeros. And perhaps, like Dany, he’ll be “reborn” in fire during his burial burning. But will it happen at the start of Season 6, or much later?

Then again, maybe they’re just massively trolling all of us. Who knows. What say you, readers? Regardless, we shall dutifully keep you updated on #HairGate, the (maybe) end to Jon Snow’s watch, and everything Game of Thrones as we know it!
