First Image from GRACEPOINT—the U.S. Remake of BROADCHURCH—Starring David Tennant and Anna Gunn

     February 14, 2014

One of my most-anticipated shows of the fall 2014 season is Gracepoint, the U.S. remake of the U.K. drama series Broadchurch.  For those who don’t know, it’s about a detective (David Tennant in both series) who comes to a small town to investigate the murder of a child.  What makes the U.K. version so compelling is that the townspeople all have their own secrets that come out in the course of not only the investigation, but also their grieving.  Broadchurch sets a very high bar to clear, but Gracepoint has a lot of things going for it: Series creator Chris Chibnall is also scripting the U.S. remake; the U.S. version will only run for ten episodes (Broadchurch ran for eight); I’m curious to see how Tennant will play the role again; and it has an outstanding supporting cast that includes Anna Gunn (who plays detective Ellie Miller, the Gracepoint detective who reluctantly teams with Tennant’s character, and whose son with a friend of the victim), Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Michael Peña, Kevin Rankin, Virginia Kull, and Kevin Zegers.

Fox has released the first image from the show, and you can check it out after the jump. Broadchurch is available to buy on Amazon digital, and will be released on DVD on April 1st.
