GRAVITY Returns to IMAX 3D Starting January 31st

Fresh off the announcement of the nominations for the 86th Annual Academy Awards (of which Gravity earned ten) came the news that Alfonso Cuarón’s sci-fi film will be returning to IMAX 3D theaters starting January 31st.  It comes as no surprise that Gravity is coming back to the immersive big-screen format after the announcement, as it proved to be IMAX’s biggest box office earner both domestically and globally in 2013.  Check out George Clooney and Sandra Bullock in Gravity returning to theaters at the end of the month, and be sure to watch the 86th annual Oscars on ABC March 2nd.  Hit the jump for more.

(NYSE:TWX), today announced that Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity™, one of the most popular films ever offered in IMAX® 3D, will be returning to domestic IMAX theatres starting Jan. 31.

Cuarón’s spectacular sci-fi thriller, which stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, has been a hit with audiences and critics alike, grossing nearly $700 million at the global box office, while receiving 10 Academy Award® nominations including Best Picture. Demand for the film – which was also nominated for four Golden Globes, with Cuarón winning Best Director – has been particularly high in IMAX 3D. Opening Oct. 4, Gravity was the highest-grossing IMAX release of 2013, both domestically and globally. It’s also the 3rd most popular IMAX DMR® film of all time worldwide.
