‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Trailer Re-Unites the A-Holes

     December 3, 2016

Marvel has released a new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Written and directed by James Gunn, the follow-up reunites the titular Guardians of the Galaxy—Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and Baby Groot (Vin Diesel)—to battle a new threat and search for Peter Quill’s father.

This is a fantastic trailer that feels like the natural evolution of the first movie.  The action is bigger, the settings are more colorful, but the humor is perfectly intact.  It’s a smart move by Marvel to know that while audiences enjoyed the set pieces, what they really enjoyed was the relationships between the characters, and this trailer delivers that, and especially the jokes, in full force.

Also, I would be remiss not to mention that Baby Groot is probably going to steal this whole damn movie.  Seriously, at this point, if Marvel said, “We’re going to do a movie with only Rocket and Baby Groot,” everyone would be on board.  We’d be bummed for a bit about losing Star-Lord, Gamora, and Drax, but then Baby Groot would say in a high pitched voice, “I am Groot,” and we would forget any other character existed.

Watch the new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer below. The film also stars Kurt Russell, Karen Gillian, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Rooker, Pom Klementieff, and Glenn Close. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens in theaters on May 5, 2017.
