Henry Golding on ‘Last Christmas’ and the Insane Cast in Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’

     April 17, 2019

About a year ago, Henry Golding could have walked through CinemaCon in Las Vegas and almost everyone would have thought he was either staying at the hotel or working the event. But in the past year, with the worldwide success of Crazy Rich Asians, a key role in A Simple Favor opposite Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, and his upcoming work in Paul Feig’s Last Christmas and Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen, he’s on everyone’s radar as one to watch. It probably explains why CinemaCon gave him the “CinemaCon Male Star of Tomorrow Award” at this year’s closing night ceremony.

Shortly before stepping on the stage to accept the award, I spoke to Henry Golding about the various projects he’s working on. He talked about why he wanted to be involved in Last Christmas opposite Emilia Clarke, what it was like working on The Gentlemen with the amazing cast, featuring Matthew McConaugheyCharlie HunnamMichelle DockeryHugh Grant and Colin Farrell, if he knows when the Crazy Rich Asians sequels will be shooting, and more.

Check out what he had to say in the player above and below is exactly what we talked about.

Henry Golding:

  • What was it about Last Christmas that got him involved?
  • What Last Christmas is about.
  • Has he lost his anonymity in the past year?
  • Talks about Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen and the insane cast.

How Ritchie likes to change things up on the fly.

  • Will they film the Crazy Rich Asians sequels back to back?

Here’s the official Last Christmas synopsis:

Kate (Clarke) harumphs around London, a bundle of bad decisions accompanied by the jangle of bells on her shoes, another irritating consequence from her job as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop. Tom (Golding) seems too good to be true when he walks into her life and starts to see through so many of Kate’s barriers. As London transforms into the most wonderful time of the year, nothing should work for these two. But sometimes, you gotta let the snow fall where it may, you gotta listen to your heart … and you gotta have faith.
