‘How to Be Single’ Trailer: Rebel Wilson and Dakota Johnson Party Hard in NYC

     November 18, 2015

Every night is ladies night in the first trailer for How to Be Single, a romantic comedy from director Christian Ditter that explores love and relationships in New York City. Rebel Wilson steals the spotlight as the hard-partying Robin who takes the buttoned-up Alice (Dakota Johnson) under her wing after she suffers a bad break-up. As the ladies juggle work, love, and sex in the big city, they’ll take audiences through the ever-evolving state of relationships in the modern age.

The first look at How to Be Single looks like it’s trying to avoid the tropes of your average romantic comedy, so it automatically earns points for that. If you’re a fan of Wilson and Johnson, then this buddy pair-up should be something to look forward to when it opens on February 12th. Plus, the supporting cast of Leslie Mann, Alison BrieJason Mantzoukas, and Damon Wayans Jr. helps the party keep on going until question marks.

And here’s the film’s official synopsis, followed by two new images and the official poster:

There’s a right way to be single, a wrong way to be single, and then…there’s Alice. And Robin. Lucy. Meg. Tom. David. New York City is full of lonely hearts seeking the right match, be it a love connection, a hook-up, or something in the middle. And somewhere between the teasing texts and one-night stands, what these unmarrieds all have in common is the need to learn how to be single in a world filled with ever-evolving definitions of love. Sleeping around in the city that never sleeps was never so much fun.

“How to Be Single” stars Dakota Johnson (“Fifty Shades of Grey”), Rebel Wilson (“Pitch Perfect”), Damon Wayans, Jr. (“Let’s Be Cops”), Anders Holm (“Neighbors,” upcoming “The Intern”), Alison Brie (“Get Hard”), Nicholas Braun (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”), Jake Lacy (HBO’s “Girls”), with Jason Mantzoukas (“Neighbors,” TV’s “The League”) and Leslie Mann (“This is 40,”).
