Pixar Working on 3D Re-Releases for THE INCREDIBLES and RATATOUILLE

Pixar had great success with their 3D re-releases of Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., and Finding Nemo, so it’s not much of a surprise that they’re continuing to convert their earlier works.  According to Screen Daily, the studio is currently prepping 3D versions of Brad Bird‘s The Incredibles and Ratatouille.  Talking about The Incredibles, Pixar’s director of 3D production Josh Hollander said, “It’s been an interesting challenge to work on technology because – while the film was released 10 years ago – the technology is even older as it took four years to make.” Hollander also seems a bit happier with Ratatouille: “We have a version of Ratatouille, which works really well in 3D and we’re trying to figure out exactly what the release strategy for that will be,” he told delegates at the 3D Creative Summit in London.

There’s no release strategy for either film, but it wouldn’t be the worst idea to release one this year since right now 2014 is a completely Pixar-less.  Their next movie, Inside Out, won’t open until June 19, 2015.  2015 will also see the release of The Good Dinosaur, which was pushed back from this year to November 25, 2015.
