Indie Casting Call: Lawrence and Yelchin Lead LIKE CRAZY; Cardellini, Shannon, and Nelson to Star in RETURN; Moore Takes a MARGIN CALL

     June 18, 2010

We got two pieces of casting news for you this late morning/early afternoon.  First up, Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) will star in the indie romantic Like Crazy.  According to 24 Frames, the indie romantic drama centers on “young college students who fall in love at first sight. They then go their separate ways for years, before a dramatic (and complicated) reunion.”  The film also stars Felicity Jones (Cemetery Junction), Chris Messina (Julie & Julia), and Charlie Bewley (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse).

Hit the jump for news on Linda Cardellini, Michael Shannon, and Tim Blake Nelson teaming up for Return, and Demi Moore joining Margin Call.

Variety reports that Linda Cardellini (ER), Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road), and Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk) will topline the indie drama Return, with Meredith Vieira of all people executive producing through her new feature film banner.  For those keeping track, Vieira co-hosts The Today Show, the syndicated version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and now apparently producing feature film.  That’s what a Type-A personality looks like.

Per Variety, the “story focuses on a woman, played by Cardellini, who returns home from war to her husband (portrayed by Shannon) and kids in a small town and struggles to readjust. Nelson plays an older war vet who befriends her.”  As long as she doesn’t pull a Jessica Biel in Home of the Brave and try to push people away with one hand, there’s hope for this project.

Finally, Demi Moore has joined the cast of the indie financial drama Margin Call.  According to Deadline, “The film tracks the desperate maneuverings of eight people in a 24-hour period during the early stages of the Wall Street financial crisis.”  Moore will play the chief risk management officer at a firm.  The actress joins Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Simon Baker, Zachary Quinto, Penn Badgley, and Stanley Tucci.
