Listen to Snippets of the Soundtrack for INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS along with the Full Track for “Fare Thee Well” by Oscar Isaac and Marcus Mumford

     September 25, 2013

There have been plenty of movies I’ve wanted to see in 2013, but Inside Llewyn Davis has always been at the top of the list simply by virtue of being a Coen Brothers movie.  The film takes place during the 1961 Greenwich Village folk scene, and follows a week in the life of frustrated musician Llewyn Davis (Oscar Isaac).  The Coens reteamed with executive music producer T Bone Burnett for the film, and there’s even going to be a benefit concert on Sunday featuring musicians Jack White, Patti Smith, The Avett Brothers, Marcus Mumford, and more doing songs from the soundtrack (the concert will air on Showtime in December).

Whilst most of these artists aren’t on the soundtrack, snippets from the album have gone online, and they’re terrific.  Granted, these are only snippets, but this could be a soundtrack on the same level as the Grammy-winning album for O Brother, Where Art Thou?  You can also listen to Isaac and Mumford’s full cover of “Fare Thee Well” by going here.  The song was featured in the latest trailer, but now you can hear the isolated track.  Inside Llewyn Davis opens December 6th.  The CD/mp3 album will be available on November 12th, but if you want the vinyl version, you can buy it now.
