Jack Black Takes On Jason Bourne

Jack Black will re-team with his “Kung Fu Panda” writers Glenn Berger and Jonathan Aibel for an untitled live-action comedy. According to The Hollywood Reporter the film pitch, which sold to Universal in the seven figure range, will cast Black as a man who comes to believe that he is a super-spy after he washes up on the shores of Cuba sans memory. Apparently, the funny part is that he is totally not a super-spy—I think we can all see where this is going, can’t we?

Berger told THR that “if he did turn out to be a super-spy, this wouldn’t be a ‘comedic Bourne Identity,’ but just ‘The Bourne Identity,’ and apparently Universal has already made that movie, several times.” Yeah… we get it man, it’s funny because it’s NOT true.

Despite the fact that most adult film-goers have outgrown his style of crazy-eyed comedy, Black continues to be an in demand performer. He’s got Harold Ramis’ “Year One” coming up and is rumored to be co-starring with Dave Chappelle in Michel Gondry’s latest: “Master of Space and Time.” Plus, if this film thing doesn’t pan out, Jack always has his skill as a kid’s award show host to fall back on.
