Jamie Foxx and Ken Jeong to Star in Each Other’s Films: AFTER PROM and ALL-STAR WEEKEND

     October 10, 2012

Jamie Foxx (Ray) and Ken Jeong (The Hangover) are pulling the Hollywood business version of Freaky Friday and swapping projects.  Foxx has agreed to star in the Jeong-written laugher, After Prom, a buddy comedy about two old high school friends, “a jock and a cool dude” as Foxx puts it, who find themselves helping their own children navigate through a high school prom.  Jeong has also agreed to star in a project that Foxx is developing.  For more on that, hit the jump.

The LA Times reports that jamie-foxxnot only is Foxx stepping in to star in Jeong’s After Prom, but that Jeong will return the favor by starring in Foxx’s All-Star Weekend.  The comedy centers on two friends who find themselves cheering for opposing NBA stars.  One is a fervent supporter of Kobe Bryant while the other is an ardent fan of LeBron James.  As Foxx puts it, “when you get down to it, those are really the two types of basketball fans out there.” (Although, Foxx himself remains a Dallas Mavericks fan.)  Foxx is writing and directing the picture and is putting a spin of sorts on the buddy sports comedy by relegating the friends to opposite sides.  Kevin Hart (The 40 Year Old Virgin) is expected to star and Foxx will likely have a cameo.

Foxx will next be seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained this Christmas, (check out the newly released trailer if you haven’t yet) before assuming the role of the President of the United States in Roland Emmerich’s White House Down.  As Foxx says,

“I look at it as I get to show the evolution in this country. I play a slave and then turn right around and play the president of the United States.”
