Jason Segel & Jesse Eisenberg Talk THE END OF THE TOUR and Method Acting

     August 1, 2015

James Ponsoldt’s (Smashed and The Spectacular Now) fantastic new movie The End of the Tour is now playing in select theaters. Based on a true story, the film follows Rolling Stone reporter David Lipsky (Jesse Eisenberg) and author David Foster Wallace (Jason Segel) on the closing days of the book tour of Infinite Jest, the novel that made Wallace a literary sensation. Trust me, if you want to see two actors at the top of their game, seek this film out. The End of the Tour also stars Anna ChlumskyJoan CusackMamie Gummer, and Mickey Sumner. For more on the movie, read Matt’s review.

At the Los Angeles press day I spoke with Jason Segel and Jesse Eisenberg. They talked about how their acting process has changed over the years, their thoughts on method acting and the benefits of making the movie with a small group of people. You can also watch as I try and get them to play “Save or Kill.”

Again, I strongly recommend seeking this film out if it’s playing near you. It’s absolutely worth your time and money.

Jason Segel & Jesse Eisenberg:

  • 00:16 – Segel and Eisenberg play “Save or Kill.”
  • 03:28 – How much did the film change from script to screen?
  • 04:03 – The movie was made by a small group of people; why that makes it so special.
  • 04:35 – Segel and Eisenberg on how their processes have changed over the years.
  • 06:12 – Their thoughts on method acting.
