Todd Phillips to Next Direct ARMS & THE DUDES with Jonah Hill Circling; Bradley Cooper to Produce

     May 16, 2014

The Hangover collaborators Bradley Cooper and Todd Phillips are coming together to form a new production company, and their first project is firming up.  Phillips has been developing an adaptation of the Rolling Stone article Arms & The Dudes for a few years now, and THR reports that the film is coming together as Phillips’ next project with Cooper producing.  The pic is based on the true story of two young guys who won a $300 million contract from the Pentagon to supply America’s allies in Afghanistan with munitions.  After 85 deliveries to the war-torn country worth over $66 million, their Miami offices were raided by federal agents and the two were charged with 71 counts of fraud.

Hit the jump for more on the project and the Cooper/Phillips collaboration, including the prospect of Jonah Hill taking on a starring role.

The report from THR adds that Jonah Hill has been involved in table reads for Arms & the Dudes, but it’s unclear if he’ll officially star.  Phillips is working on a polish of the script at the moment with an aim towards starting production later this year, making this his follow-up to 2013’s The Hangover Part III.

Cooper has been bulking up his producing resume as of late through his production shingle at Warner Bros., but this new partnership with Phillips strikes up a three-year deal with the studio.  He is currently filming American Sniper with director Clint Eastwood, which he is also producing as well.  He’ll be seen onscreen later this year in Cameron Crowe‘s untitled next film, and he provides the voice of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy.
