Here’s the latest small-screen casting news:

  • Josh Gad (Jobs) will star opposite Billy Crystal in the cable pilot, The Comedians.
  • Bex Taylor-Klaus (The Killing) has landed a role on the second season of the CW’s hit series Arrow.
  • Adam Rayner (Hunted) will play the lead in the FX drama pilot, Tyrant, from Homeland producers Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff, and Six Feet Under producer Craig Wright.

Hit the jump for more on each project.

josh-gadFrom Deadline, it looks like Gad will nab the co-lead with Crystal in The Comedians, a series that “centers on a young, hip comic on the rise (Gad) who resents – and rails against – his pairing with an aging superstar comedian (Crystal) for a late-night comedy sketch show.”  The series was developed by writers/executive producers Crystal, Larry Charles, Matt Nix, and Ben Wexler, with Charles directing the pilot.  Charles will also direct Gad as comedian Sam Kinison in a biopic, aptly titled Kinison.

Breakout star of season three of The Killing, Taylor-Klaus will join Arrow as DC Comics character, Sin.  As TV Line reports, Sin is “described as a wayward youth, Sin is befriended by the Black Canary and has a connection with fellow street urchin, Roy Harper. Taylor-Klaus will appear in the second and third episodes of the new season, which returns to the CW on Wednesday, October 9th.

Also from Deadline, the search is over for the lead of Tyrant, a high-profile drama that “tells the story of an unassuming American family — Barry (Rayner), Molly and their kids — drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle East nation.”  The project is expected to go to series.
