Julianne Moore, Scoot McNairy, and Michelle Dockery Join Liam Neeson in NON-STOP; Uma Thurman Set for NYMPHOMANIAC

We’ve got a couple of interesting casting stories to share this afternoon.  First up, a trio of fine actors has joined Liam Neeson in the airplane thriller Non-Stop, raising my interest in the project significantly.  Variety reports that Julianne Moore, Scoot McNairy (Killing Them Softly), and Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey) have joined Non-Stop for director Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown) and producer Joel Silver.  Neeson stars as a federal air marshal “who starts receiving text messages from someone claiming to be on the same flight, and who is threatening to kill its passengers.”  Naturally, Neeson must discover the identity of the killer and stop him.  Hit the jump for more, including casting news concerning Lars von Trier’s controversial Nymphomaniac.

uma-thurman-nymphomaniacThe entirety of Non-Stop takes place during an international flight, but Variety’s report doesn’t have any details regarding the characters that Moore, McNairy, or Dockery play.  McNairy is poised for a major breakthrough this year, though, as he has a scene-stealing role in Ben Affleck’s Argo and appears opposite Brad Pitt in the upcoming Killing Them Softly.

Additionally, Uma Thurman has joined the cast of director Lars von Trier’s erotic drama Nymphomaniac.  The film is being produced as two feature length dramas (a softcore and a hardcore version) and stars Charlotte Gainsbourg as a girl who is found in an alley by an old bachelor (Stellan Skarsgard).  She recounts to the man her life of erotic adventure as he nurses her back to health.  THR’s report has no details concerning Thurman’s role, but co-star Shia LaBeouf raised eyebrows earlier this year when he revealed that the actors may or may not be having unsimulated (ie. real) sex on camera.  Essentially, Nymphomaniac is looking to be the highest profile porno ever.  The film is currently in production and the cast also includes Jamie Bell, Connie Nielsen, Stacy Martin, and Christian Slater.
