Paramount Pictures has released a batch of new high-resolution images from writer/director Jason Reitman’s adaptation of the Joyce Maynard novel Labor Day.  The film takes place over the course of a Labor Day weekend and tells the story of a 13-year-old boy who convinces his reclusive mother (Kate Winslet) to take in a drifter (Josh Brolin), who turns out to be an escaped convict on the run.  Despite the fact that the film is being released without much fanfare, it’s actually quite good.  It’s a significant departure for Reitman and marks his most mature work to date, and Winslet and Brolin both give excellent lead performances.
