Lance Reddick in Talks for WHITE HOUSE DOWN, Gus Van Sant Appears in THE CANYONS and Could Dolph Lundgren Appear in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE?

     August 3, 2012

This may be the strangest casting article ever written, but here it goes:

Hit the jump to get this sorted out.

Variety reports that Reddick is in negotiations to play Colonel Janowitz, an agent responsible for the Speaker of the House, played by Richard Jenkins. The James Vanderbilt-scripted actioner puts Tatum into action to defend the U.S. President when a paramilitary group storms the White House and takes the inhabitants hostage.  The picture also stars Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods and Joey King.

From Ellis’ Twitter feed comes photographic evidence of Van Sant as Dr. Campbell alongside adult film star James Deen as Christian in a scene from The Canyons.  The picture stars Lindsay Lohan as Christian’s materialistic girlfriend in a pic about twenty-somethings in Los Angeles engaging in sex and crime.  Check out the pic below:

Finally, after we reported that Jon Chu is in talks to direct a live-action reboot of Masters of the Universe, Lundgren spoke to IGN (via CBM) and was asked about appearing in the remake.  Here’s what he had to say:

“Yeah, I think it’s a good idea. I thought He-Man was a cool character, and I had fun doing it. I wouldn’t wanna take my shirt off again for three months, wearing diapers [loincloth]. So I’d rather play the King. But yeah, good idea. Y’know, all of these old superheroes are coming back, and I’m sure that’s one that people could enjoy.”

Even if Lundgren does make it into another MotU iteration, you can see him first in The Expendables 2 on August 17th.
