Steve is currently in Las Vegas for CinemaCon, which is a convention put on by the various movie studios in order preview their upcoming films for theater owners. Essentially, it’s Comic-Con for theatrical exhibitors, and each studio is trying to put its best foot forward. Steve has already shared video blog recaps of the presentations for Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, and Paramount Pictures, and he’s currently getting ready to see footage from 20th Century Fox’s upcoming films.
As he was entering the auditorium, Steve snapped some photos of the logos for a few of Fox’s upcoming movies, most notably David O. Russell’s drama Joy starring Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar winner Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s period revenge pic The Revenant, and Ridley Scott’s sci-fi adaptation The Martian.
Now these are likely temporary logos so don’t count on this being the final typeset, but it is a nice preview of a few of Fox’s big 2015 films, and also signals that Steve will probably have a reaction to the first footage from each later today.
The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, started filming in September but it still in production in Calgary—Inarritu opted to shoot the pic in sequence, but also had to take a few breaks to attend to awards business on Birdman. And Joy only just wrapped production yesterday, so Russell likely hasn’t had time to even think about logos or marketing just yet.
Nevertheless, take a look at the first logos below. The Martian opens in theaters on November 25th, while Joy and The Revenant both hit on December 25th.
