     September 30, 2016

HBO has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming documentary Marathon: The Patriots’ Day Bombing. Directed by Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg, the film chronicles the bombing of the Boston Marathon in 2013 and the aftermath that ensued, taking a closer look at the lives of those that were affected by the terrorist attack. Interviews with survivors, first responders, and Boston Globe journalists abound as the film looks to take an all-encompassing approach to covering the event.

This is the first of two films about the Boston Marathon bombing that will be coming out this year, as a narrative feature film called Patriot’s Day dramatizes the events with Mark Wahlberg and Deepwater Horizon director Peter Berg. This is no doubt an noteworthy event, so it’ll be interesting to see how much ground this documentary can cover, and if it spends much time recounting the actions of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother.

Check out the trailer below. Marathon: The Patriots Day Bombing premieres on HBO on November 21st.
