New Trailer for Improv Comedy HIGH ROAD from Director Matt Walsh

     January 30, 2012

A trailer is now available for High Road, the fully-improvised comedy by director Matt Walsh (The Hangover). Cast with a ridiculous number of improv comedians at all different levels of fame, High Road stars relative unknowns in the principal roles. James F. Pumphrey (Players) is Fitz, a well-meaning drug-dealer who hits the road to escape his problems and encounters some strange characters along the way. The strong supporting cast features Ed Helms, Rob Riggle, Horatio Sans, Kyle Gass, Abby Elliott, Lizzy Caplan and Zach Woods. While it plays like a mash-up of Harold and Kumar and Pineapple Express, I can’t quite figure out if it’s destined to be a cult classic or a simple misfire. Hit the jump to check out the trailer for High Road.

Directed by Matt Walsh, a co-founding member of world-renowned comedy troupe Upright Citizens Brigade, High Road stars Lizzy Caplan (127 Hours, Hot Tub Time Machine, Mean Girls, “Party Down”), Abby Elliott (No Strings Attached, “Saturday Night Live”, “King of the Hill”), Ed Helms (The Hangover 1 & 2, Cedar Rapids, “The Office”), Rob Riggle (Going the Distance, The Other Guys, Killers, The Hangover), Horatio Sanz (Step Brothers, Year One, “Saturday Night Live”) and Zach Woods (The Other Guys, “The Office”). High Road is written by Walsh and Josh Weiner and produced by Kirk Roos, Matt Walsh and Inman Young. The film was executive produced by Jeff Schlossman and Erik Rommesmo.

Glenn “Fitz” Fitzgerald (James F. Pumphrey) is a young man whose loyalties are split among his band, his girlfriend Monica (Abby Elliott) and selling weed. After his band breaks up, Fitz finds himself dealing pot out of his garage and bonding with 16-year-old neighborhood kid Jimmy (Dylan O’Brien). As his former band mates (Zach Woods, Matt L. Jones, Lizzy Caplan) begin finding success and one of his drug deals goes awry, Fitz hits the road with Jimmy.  Amid car chases, guns, broken bones, sassy cabbies and a suspicious doctor (Horatio Sanz), Fitz has to navigate their way to safe harbor–and he doesn’t even know about the surprise Monica has in store for him back home!
