First ‘Meadowland’ Trailer Features Olivia Wilde, Luke Wilson Dealing with Tragic Loss

     September 23, 2015

The first trailer for debut director Reed Morano’s drama Meadowland is now available for your viewing pleasure. Brace yourselves for this one because it certainly doesn’t seem to be promising an uplifting tale of hope and redemption. Instead, Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson play two characters devastated by an unspeakable tragedy, and they’re each dealing with the fallout in their own way. Needless to say, neither of them is handling the repercussions in a healthy manner.

This first trailer does a great job at communicating the emotional wrecks that Wilde and Wilson play without giving away what caused them to be in such a state. That’s the definition of a good teaser, something that too many big-budget movies are forgetting lately. This brief look into the gut-wrenching drama leaves you wanting to know more. Now, if you really want to know more without waiting for the film itself to hit theaters, you can always check out our own Perri Nemiroff’s review of the film from Tribeca earlier this year.

Also starring Giovanni Ribisi, Elisabeth Moss, Ty Simpkins, John Leguizamo, Kevin Corrigan and Merritt Wever, Meadowland will be available in theaters October 16th, and On Demand starting October 23rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for Meadowland:

In the hazy aftermath of an unimaginable loss, married couple Sarah (Olivia Wilde, Rush) and Phil (Luke Wilson, The Skeleton Twins) come unhinged, recklessly ignoring the repercussions. Phil, a New York City cop, starts to lose sight of his morals as Sarah puts herself in increasingly dangerous situations, falling deeper into her own fever dream. The directorial debut of cinematographer Reed Morano, MEADOWLAND is a visceral exploration of grief and hope. Featuring Giovanni Ribisi, Elisabeth Moss, Ty Simpkins, John Leguizamo, Kevin Corrigan and Merritt Wever.
