Variety reports that michelle-williams-suite-francaiseWilliams may star in Suite Francaise as Lucille Angellier, a vivacious young woman living in occupied France who falls for a German officer and is forced to choose between love and country.  Trapped in a loveless marriage, Lucille has only her overbearing mother-in-law for company when her husband is called off to war.  Lucille finds escape in playing the piano, but is instantly attracted to the young German officer assigned to stay at their home, who happens to be a former composer.  Production is scheduled to start in London next Spring.  Williams can next be seen in Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, which opens March 8th, 2013.  Dibb, meanwhile, has been developing Codenames Only from a Tony Grisoni (Red Riding) script, which centers on undercover officers in a subsidized housing complex (or, Dibb’s projects project…).

Variety also reports that Hall will be joining Carell, Ruffalo, Tatum and Miller in Foxcatcher.  The drama, written by E. Max Frye (Where the Money Is) and Dan Futterman (Capote), is based on the true life story of John du Pont, heir to the du Pont chemical fortune and paranoid schizophrenic.  Du Pont built a wrestling training facility, named Team Foxcatcher, on his Pennsylvania estate.  Dave Schultz, an Olympic wrestler and longtime friend of du Pont, was shot and killed by the heir in 1996; police never established a motive.  Carell will star as du Pont with Ruffalo as Schultz.  Tatum is set to play Schultz’s younger brother, Mark, with Miller co-starring as the elder Schultz’s wife.  Hall will play du Pont’s assistant.  Production is expected to start later this month in beautiful Pittsburgh.
