‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ Images Reveal More of Tim Burton’s Peculiar Wonders

     August 14, 2016

For a while there, Tim Burton went through a bit of a creative rough patch. It all culminated in 2012’s unfortunate Dark Shadows remake, but if his last two films are any indication, the visionary directory may be onto a bit of a second wind. In 2012, we also got the wildly superior Frankenweenie, Burton’s touching feature film adaptation of his famous 1984 short, and in 2014 we got Big Eyes, a delightfully restrained, mature entry that proved Burton is a master of celebrating the unusual even when he’s not lavishing in aesthetics.

His next film promises to be a bit of both. Based on the novel of the same name by Ransom Riggs, the film stars Asa Butterfield as a young boy who stumbles upon a secret refuge for supernaturally gifted youngsters, headed up by the mysterious Miss Peregrine (Eva Green) only to learn that the children are in danger from ever-growing malevolent forces. The film has a rich aesthetic, and if the title wasn’t a dead giveaway, a love for the weird, and today brings a new look at both thanks to a new image, pieces of concept art and a batch of on-set behind-the-scenes images courtesy of EW.

Check out the new images below. The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Judi Dench,Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Kim Dickens, and Rupert Everett. Scripted by Matthew Vaughn’s regular collaborator Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class), Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children arrives in U.S. theaters on September 30th.
