Monday TV Ratings: ‘Supergirl’ Premiere Soars, ‘Gotham’ Sees Gains

The Monday TV ratings for October 26th are in; here are some of highlights:

  • First off, there’s a bit of interesting news we didn’t get to in yesterday’s coverage, that being the ratings bump for AMC’s The Walking Dead. In the controversial third episode of Season 6, AMC’s colossal series took in a 6.8 in the key demos, with 13.1 million viewers, which is less than the massive Season 6 opener but still shows sizable increases from last week’s episode.
  • Let’s begin with the elephant in the room, that being the series premiere of CBS’s Supergirl, the pilot of which got a rapturous reception at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. In its special 8:30 slot, the DC Comics adaptation scored a 3.2 in the key demos with just under 13 million viewers in total.
  • As promising a beginning as this proved for the CBS superhero drama, it was The Big Bang Theory‘s latest episode, on the same channel in the 8 p.m. slot, that won the night with a 4.2 in the demo and 15.8 million viewers.

    Still, Supergirl ended up beating both of the night’s big reality-based programs, NBC’s The Voice and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, both of which aired in the 8 p.m. slot. The former came in with a strong 3.1 and 11.8 million viewers, while the latter grabbed a 1.9 in the demo and some 12.1 million viewers.

  • Also at 8 p.m., Gotham, on Fox, saw some noticeable gains, up to tenths to 1.5 and some 4.2 million viewers in total, while The CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, at the same time, dropped to a 0.2 with 0.7 million viewers.
  • In the 9 p.m. slot, Minority Report continued to yield mediocre numbers on Fox, bringing in 0.6 in the key demos and some 2 million viewers, while Jane the Virgin lost ground on The CW to grab a 0.3 and a little less than one million viewers.
  • Finally, CBS’s Scorpion was able to get some momentum off of Supergirl and saw a ratings rise to 1.9 in the demos, with about 9.6 million viewers, while Blindspot scored a healthy 2.2 in NBC’s 10 p.m. slot, bringing in an audience of approximately 8 million.
