NBC’s HEROES Will Return Next Season for 18-20 Episodes

Unlike most of my friends that stopped a long time ago, I still watch “Heroes”.

But unlike previous seasons where I might have defended the show, I’d never say it was good to anyone. In fact, “Heroes” is as bad as ever. But I’m an unapologetic superhero fanboy, and I keep hoping one day it’ll be the show all of us wish it could be.

But now that we’re into the tail end of season three and the show isn’t any better than the first season, I’m starting to think it’s never going to be good. Which is a real shame, as the premise is great.

And that’s why the fans still watch.

We all think it’s going to turn a corner and someone will figure out how to make it work. While I have no solid answers on how to do it, not having a cast of a dozen people might be the first place to start. Having to keep writing for characters whose arcs are clearly over is a big problem on “Heroes”….so I think it’s time to cut a few people loose. But that’s just me.

Anyway, as the headline of this article says, NBC is planning to bring “Heroes” back next season for 18-20 episodes – which is about 3-5 less than this season.

So even though ratings are down, the reason “Heroes” is coming back is the rest of the world. Even though the show is incredibly expensive to produce, NBC makes a ton of money in syndication/royalties. There is no way they’re getting rid of something that still brings in plenty of money. Even if the show isn’t very good.
